The 2018 Ohio State University Brazil Dance Tour is a unique study abroad experience that was specifically created for Ohio State dance majors with a desire to stretch beyond American dance education and experience dance in the context of global diversity. This unparalleled experience will allow twelve hand-picked students to tour as dancers internationally, gain first-hand experience of the Afro-Brazilian culture, and learn in a new and exciting environment. For over four months, the 2018 Brazil Tour Group has worked to learn and rehearse ten repertory pieces which they will perform throughout Bahia in Brazil. Each piece was crafted to reflect the substantial effect that African traditions have on American dance. Led by assistant professor Daniel Roberts, the tour kicks off on March 3rd, 2018. Together, the dancers will depart from Columbus, Ohio to explore Salvador de Bahia, Brazil for two weeks.
